International students can go to Saudi Arabia for higher studies. There are some good universities. It has been produced to answer your questions about studying at the University of Plymouth. General entry requirements:
For undergraduate courses, applicants should offer the Thanawiya (High School Leaving Certificate) plus an International Foundation Year or equivalent.
For postgraduate courses, applicants should hold either a Bachelors degree (with a high GPA) or a Masters degree from a prestigious local university or a good honors degree from a British or American university.
Applications are considered on an individual basis and other qualifications / work experience may be taken into consideration.
English language requirements:
You must have an English Language qualification to be accepted onto a course at the University of Plymouth. The minimum acceptable English Language requirement for undergraduate courses is IELTS - 6.0 overall and 5.0 for the written language. This is equivalent to 213 in the computerised TOEFL test, 550 in the written TOEFL test or 79 - 80 in the internet based TOEFL test.
For postgraduate courses you must have IELTS - 6.5 overall and 6.0 for the written element. This is equivalent to 232 in the computerised TOEFL test, 575 in the written TOEFL test or 90 - 91 in the internet based TOEFL test. Equivalent English language qualifications may be accepted.
Application procedures:
If you are applying for an undergraduate course, you must apply via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). You can visit http://www.ucas.com for further information. You can also obtain a UCAS application form from the British Council. If you are applying for a postgraduate course, you will need to download and complete the appropriate university application form, which can be found in university websites. Scholarships and bursaries:
For the academic year, there are a range of scholarships and bursaries available. If you wish to apply for a scholarship award for the academic year, you are strongly advised to apply for a place on the course of your choice as soon as possible after 1 September the previous year. Once you have received your offer letter, you can then apply for a scholarship. Universities have different scholarship policies and facilities. For example: The Civil Engineering Department at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) invites applications from outstanding college graduates for the Master degree (M.S.), and Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) programs in Civil Engineering, in any of the following specializations; Structural, Construction Management, Geo-Technical, Environmental, Water Resources, and Transportation.
The applicant should hold a Bachelor degree (Masters Degree for Ph.D) in Civil engineering with an outstanding grade (4.5/5 or 3.5/4 or higher). A TOEFL score of 500 or higher and an excellent score in GRE are also required.
Accepted applicants are supported through the Graduate Assistantship Program of King Abdulaziz University. The program provides awarded students with the following:
1. Tuition waiver.
2. A monthly stipend of 2000 Saudi Riyals (US$ 533)
3. Housing in the university dorms.
The selected applicant will have a good chance to participate in funded research projects. Graduate assistants will be required to actively participate in research activities and other related duties as assigned by the department. Continued support for graduate students depends on their ability to maintain high graduate academic standing, perform research related activities and maintain a high level of research achievement through participation in authoring and co-authoring scientific publications.
