Student Visa Sponsorship

Sponsor Letter:

Anyone in the world can be your sponsor; it can be your father, mother, cousin, sister-in-law, friend, friend's father, your employer, your company or anyone. No matter who is sponsoring you, you must get a sponsor letter (affidavit on an official stamp paper) from your sponsor clearly stating everything needed for taking the responsibility of your studies. In case of sponsorship from your relative or any individual, the sponsor letter should not be of typical kind; instead it should clearly mention that:

  • Why your sponsor is sponsoring you?
  • What are the sources of his income?
  • How much children he has?
  • Why he is taking so much care of you by giving you this big amount.

Sponsor letter should be specific and should clearly state if it is loan or reward of your services or something else. If it is loan, it should specify that on what terms you and your sponsor agree to repay this loan. In short, your sponsor should justify his sponsorship to you in his sponsor letter.

In case of company, if it has partner, then sponsor letter should given by the mutual consent of all of the partner should be signed by all of them. In case it has partners but a managing director holds the major operations, it should be from managing director with only his sign.

Again sponsor letter should justify why the company is sponsoring you. And you will have to attach company official documents (i.e. registration, partnership deed, business docs etc).

You can have multiple sponsors , one for each expense category, like one sponsoring your living expenses and other sponsoring your accommodation and so on. You will need the bank statements and other evidences from each sponsor.

If someone is sponsoring your accommodation in UK, he should give the exact details of his home and rooms and other accommodation related detail. Ask your UK sponsor to acquire valid UK procedure to sponsor you. It is advisable that you arrange some accommodation before applying for visa. Your university can help you in this matter.

Required Documents:

Sponsor Tax docs (if applicable)

In case of employed sponsor, one year tax docs. In case of company three years tax docs. In case of individual sponsor, it is not a “MUST” requirement. If you have them, attach them to make your case stronger otherwise no problem. But in case of company, it is required.

Evidence of sponsor's belongings

Evidence of personal/sponsors business, land, employment/income. If your sponsor is your employer, you should attach the evidence of your employment, (i.e. your experience certificate salary slips, salary account statement etc.) If your sponsor is a businessman you have to produce his Trade license, transaction documents, company memorandum etc.

Sponsors Bank Statement

For postgraduate studies (one year studies) 15-20 lacs are enough, for undergraduate 35-40 lacs are enough. If you don't have this much amount in bank then at least half of this amount should be in bank and other should be in the form of property, saving certs, fix deposit or other assets. Sources of this wealth should be mentioned in sponsor letter.

Bank account transaction

Preferably be smooth. (i.e. No big amounts at the end of statement or no empty account at the end). If there are not balanced transactions then the spike transactions should be justified by telling the source of such amounts (like property recently sold) and in this case the property sale evidence should be attached. In case of fix deposit, bank certificate is required. If someone is sponsoring you from UK, it will NOT have negative effect on your visa application.
