THE POINTS-BASED SYSTEM
This is the new system for managing entry to the UK for the purposes of work, study and training. From 31 March 2009, you need to pass a points-based assessment under Tier 4 for students. This makes the visa application process simpler and easier to understand.
TIER 4 POINT BASE SYSTEM
The General Student Category is a Trier 4 according to the Point Based System (PBS) a place on a course with an approved education provider i.e Visa letter from education provider and supporting documents as specified in this guidance - 30 points and enough money at the time of submitting application to cover course fees and monthly living costs i.e, Bank statement or letter confirming that you have enough money available to cover your course fees and monthly living costs as we specify, at the time you submit your application.
You must show that you have held the money for 1 year in your or your guardian's bank account. The end of that 28 day period must not be more than one month before the date of your application - 10 points.
You have to get total 40 point to achieve student visa.

HOW TO APPLY
If you are making an application from outside the United Kingdom for entry clearance you should go to UK Border Agency international Group website (formerly known as UK visas) at www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/vafs where you can find the forms and more information on how to fill them in.
NEED OF A SPONSOR
All applicants under Tier 4 (General) students and Tier 4 (Child) students need a licenced sponsor. The sponsor is an education provider offering the applicant a place on a course of study in the United Kingdom.

MONEY NEEDED
The money you need to show covers your course fees for your first year of study and living costs for up to a maximum of nine months. The amount you will need depends on whether you are applying as a child or adult. You money must be held in cash.
Shares, bonds, pension funds and similar savings will not be accepted.
You must show that you have held the money for at least 28 days prior to the date of application. The funds must be in an account in your name.

POINTS A CHILD STUDENT NEEDS
A child student needs:

30 points for a visa letter, which a child gets for studying a course at an acceptable level with an approved education provider (also known as sponsorship); and
-
10 points for having enough money (also known as maintenance or funds) for a child's course fees and living costs.
ACCEPTED FORM OF FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS
Only the following documents will be accepted as evidence:
Personal bank or building society statements;
Savings account/ building society pass book/s;
Letter from your bank or building society;
Letter from a financial institution regulated by the home regulator (official regulatory body for the country in which the institution operates and the funds are located) confirming funds or loan.

THE RULES ABOUT FORGED DOCUMENT
If you use deception in your visa application, including submitting forged documents and failing to disclose previous visa application refusals; this will lead to your application being refused. It may also result in future visa applications to the UK being automatically refused for 10 years.

VISA FEES
1. For student visa you have to pay BDT 15225, in favour of \"British High Commission\".
2. All visa fees will need to be paid at designated branches of BRAC Bank Ltd.
3. Alternatively, an applicant has the option to turn in with a pay order demand draft of the exact visa application fee amount in favor of the \"British High Commission\" but bank drafts only from Standard Chartered, HSBC, Sonali Bank, South East Bank or BRAC Bank are acceptable. The applicants also have the option to purchase a Banker\'s Draft at the UK Visa Application Centre. There is a Bank processing fee of BDT 150 when paying the visa application fees in cash at the Bank Counter inside the Visa Application Centre.
4. Applicants will be given a receipt (which will be valid for 30 days from the next working day).
5. The receipt should then be submitted with an application form to one of the Visa Application Center (VAC) or the British High Commission\'s commercial partner VFS Centre. These fees are effective for all visa applications made from 6 April 2009. The consular rate of exchange is £1 = BDT105. The visa fees are subject to change.
6. Dependants are charged the same fee as the main applicant. All dependants who are traveling must pay the fee whether or not they are included in the main applicant's passport.
